How Far We Went

Alibi Gallery is happy to invite you on Thursday 6 April at 7pm, to the opening of “How Far We Went”, Stelios Pupet solo show, where the artist’s latest work will be presented. The show will run until May 6.

Everything started with a couple of pencils on a blank page…

Stelios Pupet is a Greek figurative painter who graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts. He often portrays women's forms, enjoying deconstructing and reconstructing lines and shapes in his unique style.

This exhibition will present his artworks produced over the past three years, during which he has refined his technique by adopting a more form-focused style and composition.

“I know many people liked the way I was painting before, with rough lines and intense colors, but at some point it wasn’t making sense to continue like this anymore. Using the same technique and just trying to improve on it became annoying and I had to move on."

When asked about the title of the exhibition, he said that it reflects the relationship between his painting process and life journey, which have undergone significant changes in recent years. “I firmly believe that personal growth is crucial to improving one's craft and reaching new heights as an individual. I now realise that progress within oneself translates to better work.”

It is in this new and hopefully promising light that Stelios Pupet invites us to see “How Far We Went”.
